Our women’s team of Weronika Matuszczak, Sarah Johnson, Brianna Bourne, and Danielle Katz took the top spot, our second victory in a row, while the men’s team of Donald Taggart, Rafal Matuszczak, Sebastian Hanson, and Steven Grolle finished in runner-up position.

Santa Run Silicon Valley 5K (San Jose, CA)
Weronika Matuszczak and Sarah Johnson were the top two women in this spirited 5K.

USATF Club Cross Country Championships (San Francisco, CA)
The women’s team earned a top 6 finish for the fourth time in 5 years, just two points out of fifth. The men were 15th out of 45 scored teams. Kayla Knapp (22nd), Ayla Granados (27th), Maya Weigel (31st), Izzi Gengaro (54th), Jen Odenheimer (70th), Carmen Mejia (94th), and Sarah Gayer (95th) competed for the women with all seven earning spots in the top 100. For the men, Miles Smith (65th), Donald Taggart (67th), Trevor Halsted (79th), Matt Lenehan (95th), Liam Conway (171st), and Tris Dodge competed for the squad.
December 4
California International Marathon / USATF Marathon Championships (Sacramento, CA)
Maya Weigel and Matt Lenehan both hit 2024 US Olympic Marathon Team Trials qualifiers. Weigel debuted in 2:34:25, for 19th in the US champs, and Lenehan earned his second standard in a row with 2:17:11. Jen Odenheimer narrowly missed the qualifier in a huge PR 2:37:48, while Tom Tayeri won his age group by 7+ minutes. Cody Goodwin ran his second fastest time ever, and Brianna Bourne earned her goal of a Boston Qualifier. Amy Schanz and Jeannette Mathieu both started, but hampered by race week fitness concerns, were unable to finish.

BU Sharon Danville-Colyear Season Opener (Boston, MA)
Ashley Lewis opened indoor season with a club record victory of 1:31.68 in the 600m.
November 23
ARM Gobble Wobble Turkey Trot 5K (Burlingame, CA)
Fabio Fornarelli and Steven Grolle were 1-2 on the men’s side, while Tania Jarreau (PR or 16:54), Faith Reynolds, Sarah Johnson, and Sarah Gayer were the top four women across.
Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot (San Jose, CA)
Kayla Knapp run a winning 16;21 PR in the 5K. Tom Tayeri won his age group by 2+ minutes in the 10K, and Melinda DiNapoli was top 15 and first 50+ in the 5K.
Dana Point Turkey Trot 10K (Dana Point, CA)
Donald Taggart was seventh in the always competitive race, running a lifetime best of 30:55.
Nitro Turkey Trot 10K (San Pablo, CA)
Rafal and Weronika Matuszczak earned twin wins for the second year in a row.
Southern Oregon Runners Turkey Trot (Talent, OR)
Carmen Mejia was first woman, fourth overall.
Type 1 Willpower Turkey Trot (Mountain Lakes, NJ)
Izzi Gengaro won for the women and was seventh overall.
Napa Turkey Chase 10K (Napa, CA)
Dena Evans was third woman.

PAUSATF Cross Country Championships (San Francisco, CA)
The women’s team won for the 10th time in 15 years, while the men were second for the third time running. Ayla Granados, Kayla Knapp, and Chelsea Burns led a 2-3-4 finish, while Izzi Gengaro was 7th, Faith Reynolds 9th, Sarah Gayer 12th, Brianna Bourne 17th, Tania Jarreau 24th, Sarah Johnson 28th, and Carmen Mejia 33rd. On the men’s side, Chris Olley finished on the podium for the second time in 3rd place. Miles Smith was 14th, Matt Leach 15th, Steven Grolle 28th, Trevor Halstead 30th, Fabio Fornarelli 31st, Donald Taggart 24th, Benedikt Bünz 41st and Andrew Roos 63rd.

Monterey Half Marathon (Monterey, CA)
Chris Olley and Trevor Halsted competed, with Olley earning a lifetime best of 64:53 in 10th place.

Matt Yeo Aggies Open XC / PAUSATF GP (Martinez, CA)
Kayla Knapp took top honors in her first cross country race for eight years. Annie Taylor was 9th, Sarah Gayer 15th, Brianna Bourne 20th and Carmen Mejia 25th to earn podium honors for the team. On the men’s side, Trevor Halsted was 5th, Miles Smith 7th, Fabio Fornarelli 16th, with Tris Dodge and Steven Grolle taking spots in the top 30 to also get the men into the top 3 squads on the day.

Izzi Gengaro won her first race for the club, competing in the Open division, alongside Susan Aneno (12th), and newcomer Ashley Lewis.
Navy Birthday 5K (Kingsville, TX)
Zach Swenson won the race at Naval Air Station Kingsville.

Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose Half Marathon / 10K (San Jose, CA)
Maya Weigel took a close runner-up in a very solid 1:12, while Chris Olley had a good second attempt at the distance, running 65:24. Kayla Knapp PR’ed in 1:17, Steven Grolle shaved some time off of his best, while Amy Schanz, Jeannette Mathieu, Jen Odenheimer, all had solid training efforts. Ben Rigby also competed. In the 10K, Fabio Fornarelli won going away.
Bank of America Chicago Marathon (Chicago, IL)
Vitor Rodrigues knocked another star off of his World Marathon Majors list, running 2:32.
Paris 20K (Paris, France)
Tom Tayeri took on the locals after a week’s rest, taking 2nd in the AG in a solid 5:48 pace.

TCS London Marathon (London, UK)
Matt Leach turned in another strong placing (14th, 4th GB), although he did not enjoy a PR on this day. Tom Tayeri did turn in a lifetime best, clocking 2:39 for second place in the 55+ Wanda World Age Group Championships!

Trevor Halsted was 5th.

Garin Park XC Challenge / PAUSATF GP (Hayward, CA)
Trevor Halsted was second, while Sarah Gayer took fifth in this most hilly of PA races.

JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge (San Francisco, CA)
Chris Olley took home the 2022 crown, stopping the clock at 16:29 over 3.5 miles. He now tops the worldwide leaderboard.

Golden Gate Open XC / PAUSATF GP (San Francisco, CA)
Trevor Halsted earned runner-up honors while on the women’s side, Faith Reynolds was 12th and Sarah Gayer 15th.
Santa Cruz Ironman 70.3 (Santa Cruz, CA)
Benedikt Bünz won the 30+ AG, while Sarah Johnson earned a top 10 in 8th as she completed her first attempt at the distance. Andrew Roos was 25th in the pro division.

USF Cross Country Invitational (San Francisco, CA)
In the women’s 6K, Chelsea Burns competed well amongst the collegians, earning 4th place. Later in the program, PDC fielded two teams in the 4x2K relay. The team of Benedikt Bünz, Faith Reynolds, Steven Grolle, and Burns earned 2nd place, followed quickly by the team of Fabio Fornarelli, Carmen Mejia, Chris Olley, and Sarah Johnson.

Jen Vucinich was third in a training effort.

Alameda 10 Miler (Alameda, CA)
Matt Lenehan won the slightly long coursed 10 mile race. Ben Rigby won the 20+ age group, and Tom Tayeri got in a good marathon prep effort in the second annual version of this event.

Sarah Gayer took 7th place as she embarks on her PAUSATF cross country series campaign.

Tracksmith Twilight 5000m #2 (San Francisco, CA)
Donald Taggart closed out an amazing summer with another emphatic victory at 14:33. Sarah Gayer chopped another 30 seconds off her personal best as well, and Faith Reynolds also finished competitively in the mid 17s as she starts her fall campaign, and Danielle Katz got a good run out as well.

Kayla Knapp led our finishers with a seventh place result in the historic 6 mile race, followed by Weronika Matuszczak in 12th. Donald Taggart was 15th on the men’s side, and Andrew Roos also cracked the top 50.

Tracksmith Twilight 5000m #1 (San Francisco, CA)
Donald Taggart surpassed his previous PR by 40 seconds to win the fastest heat. Amy Schanz was third overall on the women’s side, with Sarah Gayer also setting a significant personal best. Faith Reynolds and Annie Taylor provided pacing help.

3 lifetime bests for PDC athletes in the full marathon, including Cody Goodwin in 2:35, and Jen Vucinich, Jeannette Mathieu, and Amy Schanz all at 2:42 (just off Amy’s best). Victoria O’Neil dipped under 1:20 for the first time while setting her own PR, running 1:19:11 for 18th place, and Caitlin Chrisman pushed her along before finishing in 21st place just behind.

Carmen Mejia emerged victorious over the hilly trail race.
Bieg Sitarski Half Marathon (Bilgoraj, Poland)
Rafal and Weronika Matuszczak both won on a super hot day near Weronika’s hometown.

Tom Tayeri debuted with a 14th place in the “runner” section, while second timer Vitor Rodrigues was just outside the black shirts, earning 40th in the invite section.

Portland Track Festival (Portland, OR)
Lifetime bests for Tania Jarreau, Fabio Fornarelli, Sarah Johnson, and almost (.2 seconds) for Benedikt Bünz in the 1500m. Matt Lenehan hit a PR in the 10,000m. Chris Olley had a season’s best in the 5000m (Matt Leach also competed in the 5000m, but didn’t hit a PR), and Trevor Halstead finished his track season with a season’s best 5000 and 1500m double (Sarah Johnson also ran a 2022 best in the 5000 before the 1500m). Susan Aneno took the lead early, but couldn’t quite break through her personal best in the 800m.

The men’s team posted a strong first place result, highlighted by a 1-2-3 finish for Chris Olley, Trevor Halsted, and Matt Leach, while Fabio Fornarelli PRed in 5th, Steven Grolle was 7th, and Benedikt Bünz was 11th.

In our debut effort, our “PDC and friends” men’s centipede took home the top spot. Individually, Maya Weigel (2nd), Chelsea Burns (7th), Jeannette Mathieu (8th), Caitlin Chrisman (10th), Weronika Matuszczak (12th), and Danielle Katz (25th) had strong results. Tom Tayeri also set a PR for 12K while winning the men’s 55+ division.

Fabio Fornarelli was 4th in 1500m Heat 1 and Sebastian Hanson was 3rd in Heat 2. Miles Smith and Jason Intravaia paced.

Melinda DiNapoli won the 50+ age group, while Dena Evans was 3rd in the 45+ division.
Eugene Marathon Half Marathon (Eugene, OR)
Victoria O”Neil competed in the event as a progressive training effort.

Fresno State Invitational (Clovis, CA)
Fabio Fornarelli notched a lifetime best in the 1500m, with Benedikt Bünz, Tania Jarreau, and Sarah Johnson all also competing in that same event. Trevor Halsted kicked to a top 3 finish in his heat of the 5000m as well. Susan Aneno paced the fast heat of the 800m and 1500m.

Payton Jordan Invitational (Stanford, CA)
Matt Leach raced the 5000m and came within a second of his lifetime best at 13:47. Susan Aneno and Miles Smith both raced the 800m, and Chris Olley ran the 1500, although none of the three were able to improve on seasonal bests. Sebastian Hanson, Jason Intravaia, and Chris Olley all contributed to the evening’s pacing duties.

Donald Taggart won the race for the second time in as many years.

Bryan Clay Invitational (Azusa, CA)
Miles Smith (1:48.9) and Aneno Susan (2:20.1) both set club records in the 800m, with Smith also setting a new personal best in the 1500. Tania Jarreau set PRS in the 1500 and the 800, and Fabio Fornarelli raced to a seasonal best in the 800 and a lifetime best in the 1500. Sarah Johnson chopped 32 seconds off her time in the 5000 from Mike Fanelli, and Chris Olley, Steven Grolle, and Jason Intravaia all competed in the men’s 5000, with Olley cracking 14:00 in his first attempt of the season.

Sactown 10 Mile / PAUSATF Grand Prix / USATF Masters 10 Mile Championship (Sacramento, CA)
Win from Morgan Meade in the companion 5K event, 10 mile runner-up for Maya Weigel after a strong run in the 5K on the track 36 hours prior. Kayla Knapp and Jeannette Mathieu both secured spots in the top 10 while Steven Grolle (13th) and Trevor Halsted were top 20 on the men’s side. Christine Hoffmann was 21st for the women. in the Masters Championship, Tom Tayeri earned the silver medal in the 55+ age group, while Dena Evans got the bronze in the 45+ and Melinda DiNapoli 6th in the 50+.
April 1-2
Mike Fanelli Classic (San Francisco, CA)
Personal best for Tania Jarreau in the 1500 as she won Heat 2. Runner up for Fabio Fornarelli in Heat 3, and a seasonal best in the 800 the following day. Good 5K finishing miles for Sarah Johnson, Trevor Halsted, and Benedikt Buenz.
Stanford Invitational (Stanford, CA)
Seasonal bests for Aneno Susan and Miles Smith in the 800m, with a PR for Miles in the 1500 and a 2022 opener for Chris Olley. 28:34 for Matt Leach in the 10,000m after he kicked a lap early and had to hang on for the 25th, and 15:49 for Maya Weigel in the 5000m.

Oakland Marathon 10K / PAUSATF Grand Prix (Oakland, CA)
Maya Weigel’s winning effort led a team of Kayla Knapp (4th in 34:20), Jen Vucinich (6th 34:43), Caitlin Chrisman (11th), and Christine Hoffmann (24th) to earn the PAUSATF team title at this event. Kevin Bishop also had mounted a winning effort, but a misdirection by course monitors left him without a return on his effort.
March 19
Cardinal Classic (Stanford, CA)
Aneno won the 800m gun to wire, while Tania Jarreau, Fabio Fornarelli, and Miles Smith all set personal bests in the 1500m. Smith doubled back to earn fourth in the 800m, while Matt Leach was eighth in the 1500m and Annie Taylor was ninth in the 800m. A team of Aneno, Taylor, Carmen Mejia, and Jarreau combined for third in the 4x400m, our first ever team in that event.

Chelsea Burns earned 21st place in her first foray into the ultra running ranks.

Morgan Meade was third in the 5K, with Melinda DiNapoli 4th (1st 50+) in the 10K.

Trevor Halsted was sixth in the full, while Jen Vucinich earned a huge PR to take runner-up in the half. Rafal Matuczszak was fifth for the men in the half marathon is well.

Kevin Bishop earned the victory overall in the early season tri, while Sarah Johnson took third in her age group.

1st in the 400m for Aneno after a runner-up race in the 1500m. Sebastian Hanson took 5th in his 800m season opener, while Jason Intravaia won the 3000m and Sarah Gayer took 10th.

Miles Smith enjoyed a new personal best of 4:05 in the mile.

Trevor Halsted was the runner-up in the half marathon, while Benedikt Bunz was fifth. Jen Vucinich was second in the 10K, while Caitlin Chrisman took 5th in that race as well. Tom Tayeri hit his target pace as he builds for Boston, while Dena Evans won the 45+ age group. Newcomer Chelsea Burns was also third in the half.

Cal All Comers #1 (Berkeley, CA)
Miles Smith won the 1500m and finished 3rd in the 3000, just ahead of Sebastian Hanson in 4th. Aneno Susan earned 2nd in the 1500m and 3rd in the 400m.

Chevron Houston Marathon / Aramco Houston Half Marathon (Houston, TX)
Maya Weigel started 2022 as she finished 2021, earning a huge PR of 1:10 in the half. Amy Schanz and Jeannette Mathieu also scored personal bests each running 1:16, while Matt Leach ran his second fastest time ever at 63:29. Matt Lenehan, hoping to score an early 2024 OTQ, barely missed with another strong mark, just over the line in 2:18.
