USATF Club Cross Country Championships (Lehigh, PA)
Led by 15th, 20th, and 34th individual placings by Maya Weigel, Mara Olson, and Maddy Berkson, the women’s team finished sixth, yet another top 10 finish. The men, using all five to score, including last week’s marathoning Matt Lenehan, finished 17th of 76 teams at the meet, led by 57th place from Steven Grolle.

California International Marathon (Sacramento, CA)
Stephanie Pancoast and Jeannette Mathieu both qualified for the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials with 2:44 clockings. Matt Lenehan earned a new club best of 2:20:58 in a solid effort toward’s the men’s standard that fell short only in the last few miles. Trevor Halsted had a tough day, but he and Vitor Rodrigues, along with Lenehan comprised the 7th best team score on the day.

Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot (San Jose, CA)
Chris Olley again led the squad with a fifth place and club road best of 14:03, with Matt Leach just behind in sixth and 14:09. Steven Grolle and Benedikt Bünz were third and fourth PAUSATF finishers with Donald Taggart earning a road PR. On the women’s side, Maya Weigel and Maddy Berkson both set road PRs with Maya earning top 5 PA honors. In the Open 5K, Melinda DiNapoli finished as the top 40+ athlete and 8th overall, while Andrew Roos and Vitor Rodrigues were 5th and 6th in the Open 10K as well.

Carmen Mejia was directed off course as a leader, but had a solid four mile effort on what should have been a 5K race.

Zach Swenson was third in the snow covered affair.

Tasia Potasinski won for the second straight year.

Chris Olley won the individual crown to lead the men to their first runner-up team finish, while 5 women cracked the top 12 to earn second place and 11th consecutive podium finish at the meet.

Chris Olley debuted with a stretch run victory in the Open race, while Josh Sealand (16th), Zach Swenson (24th), and Donald Taggart all posted promising results.

Our women’s team of Mara Olson (8th), Maddy Berkson (14th), and Tasia Potasinski (19th) earned runner up team honors at the race formerly known as the Tufts 10K.

Tom Tayeri hit a 2+ minute PR to run 2:42 and stay atop the World Marathon Majors 50+ charts. Victoria O’Neil also PRed by almost 2 min dropping her time to 2:51.

Benedikt Bünz hit his target with a personal best 69:41.

USATF Outdoor Championships (Des Moines, IA)
Ayla Granados competed in her first USA Outdoor Championships, putting together a quick last 800m, but finishing 8th in heat 2.

Stumptown Twilight (Portland, OR)
Season best for Tori Tsolis in her 800m win. Carmen Mejia also enjoyed a season best over 800 as well, as did Steven Grolle in the 1500m. Brendon Fish competed well in a quickly paced 800, but did not improve his 2019 best, while Ayla Granados and Tasia Potasinski also competed in the 1500m.

Magog CAMTRI Sprint Triathlon American Cup (Magog, Quebec)
Marissa Ferrante managed her energy well in the semis before uncorking a fantastic run in the final, earning her third podium spot and second pro win of 2019.

1500m season best for Tasia Potasinski led results for the group including Ayla Granados, Tori Tsolis, and Maddy Berkson

Kelowna CAMTRI Sprint Triathlon American Cup (Kelowna, Canada)
Marissa Ferrante won her semifinal heat on Saturday than finished a close runner-up in the final on Sunday, taking her second podium spot of the year.

Matt Leach helped Team GB to a silver medal, kicking home strongly for 21st place and 3rd British scorer in his second Euro 10K Cup in three years.

Caitlin Chrisman earned the win.
Freedom Run 5K / PAUSATF Grand Prix (Morgan Hill, CA)
Jeff O’Brien competed in his first 5K in several years to earn 35th.

Maddy Berkson took the victory.

Courtney Heiner was fourth for the women, while Brennan Holman was 2nd and Josh Gruver 8th for the men.

Ayla Granados earned a new lifetime best over 1500m.

Jim Bush Invitational / Southern California USATF Championships (Long Beach, CA)
Tasia Potasinski and Tori Tsolis were 4th and 7th place in the 800m, with Tasia just .06 off of her lifetime best.

June 23Scotiabank Vancouver Half Marathon (Vancouver, Canada)
Stephanie Pancoast and Victoria O’Neil contested the race, earning 11th and 12th, with a new PR for Victoria.


One Mile Bang / PAUSATF Grand Prix
Team victory for the women, led by a course record by Ayla Granados. Tasia Potasinski was also under the previous record, followed by Marissa Ferrante, Maddy Berkson, and Carmen Mejia. The men’s team of Josh Sealand, Brendon Fish, Steven Grolle, Brennan Holman, and Josh Gruver took a close second place overall to Aggies.

Grandma’s Marathon (Duluth, MN)
Mara Olson ran a controlled race of 2:43:55 to hit the 2020 US Olympic Marathon Team Trials standard.

June 9-10
Portland Track Festival (Portland, OR)
Josh Sealand again shone, running a two second lifetime best for 3:45 over 1500m. Brendon Fish earned a solid third in his heat at 1:50.38. Ayla Granados, Tasia Potasinski, and Tori Tsolis (1500m) all his seasonal improvements, along with Carmen Mejia in the 800m. Maya Weigel, Matt Lenehan (both 5000m), and Steven Grolle and Maddy Berkson (1500m) competed, but did not improve on personal best times.

June 2
State Street Mile (Santa Barbara, CA)
Josh Sealand ran 3:54 for a huge PR and club road best. Brendon Fish dipped under 4:00 at 3:59, and Steven Grolle also cracked the top 10. For the women Maddy Berkson ran a strong personal best of 4:26, while Maya Weigel also PR’ed at 4:32 and Tori Tsolis improved on the year to 4:38. Josh Gruver was among the top age group finishers.

Maddy Berkson won her first PAUSATF GP race, while Matt Lenehan earned another top 10 finish.

PDC put 5 women in the top 13 and 5 men in the top 25, led by Mara Olson (2nd US and Bay Area) and Matt Leach (2nd Bay Area).

Maya Weigel (5000m), Maddy Berkson (1500m), and Tori Tsolis (1500m) all competed.

Chandler Kemp improved his personal best by 5 minutes to finish 8th overall and 3rd Canadian.

Maddy Berkson was third overall and second PA woman, while Brendon Fish earned 4th and third PA ahead of top 10 finishes from Steven Grolle and Trevor Halsted.
Richmond CAMTRI Spring Triathlon American Cup (Richmond, VA)
Marissa Ferrante took home the title, her first pro win!

Maddy Berkson kicked to a narrow lifetime best in the 1500m, while Tasia Potasinski weathered a bumpy race in the same heat. Josh Sealand notched a second best ever lifetime mark in the 5000m while Maya Weigel had a solid opener in the 5000m.

The Great Race 4 Mile / PAUSATF Grand Prix (Los Gatos , CA)
Victoria O’Neil and Steven Grolle earned twin fifth places overall, while Melinda DiNapoli competed well amongst 40+ athletes.

April 20
Cardinal Classic (Stanford, CA)
Tori Tsolis won her heat of the 800m, while Tasia Potasinski took third in hers. Maddy Berkson took second in her heat of the 1500m with a season’s best. Josh Sealand and Steven Grolle took first and third in their heat of the 1500m as well. Marissa Ferrante ran her first track race since 2012, earning third in her heat of the 5000m.

Ayla Granados took fourth in her 1500m heat.

April 15
Boston Marathon (Boston, MA)
Caitlin Chrisman snagged her second best time ever, clocking 2:40:29 for 16th overall American. Tom Tayeri shot to the top of the World Marathon Majors age group lists with a 2:44:59.

April 14
Stow Lake Stampede 5K / PAUSATF Grand Prix (San Francisco, CA)
Maya Weigel won with a quick time in the 16:30s with Mara Olson second and Maddy Berkson 4th. Christine Hoffman also opened her 2019 with a top 10 finish. For the men, Trevor Halsted kicked home for a negative split runner-up performance while Matt Lenehan finished 6th.

Maggie Yount won overall while pushing the stroller, just ahead of Sam.

Credit Union SacTown 10 / PAUSATF Grand Prix (Sacramento, CA)
Chandler Kemp was only one second off the club best, with a new PR of 50:55 for 7th. Mara Olson had a strong 6th place. Matt Lenehan was among the top 15, Victoria O’Neil among the top 20, and Brent Varga in the top 10 in his age group.

Mike Fanelli Track Classic (Hayward, CA)
Chandler Kemp set a lifetime best in the 10,000m, running 29:57, while Josh Sealand raced to his second fastest time ever in the 5000 (14:27), and Courtney Heiner had a strong opener in the 3000m steeple. Benedikt Bünz opened his season in the 1500m.

Amy Schnittger ran a gutsy 2:45:02 for 14th place.
Oakland Marathon Relay / PAUSATF Grand Prix (Oakland, CA)
A team of Victoria O’Neil, Mara Olson, Olivia Mickle, and Tasia Potasinski earned first place in the inaugural edition of this event on the Pacific Association Grand Prix.

Newport-Mesa Spirit Run (Newport Beach, CA)
Josh Sealand took third in a new PR of 4:05, while Maya Weigel was 4th. Benedikt Bünz and Carmen Mejia also placed in the top 10 on each side. All came back in the 5K, where Maya won.

Marissa Ferrante ran as the designated female leprechaun to catch, and was not caught.

Matt Leach opened his track season with a 3rd place 3:48 in the 1500, Brendon Fish also competed, but was hampered by a hamstring during the race.
