Matt Leach set a new club best of 2:17:38 in debut, while Mara Olson hung on her for her second fastest marathon in 2:42.

Project 26.20 (Virtual)
In what was intended to be an in-person full and half marathon experience until the day prior, Jen Vucinich scored a 3 minute personal best of 1:20 while running the half marathon.

The Track Meet (San Juan Capistrano, CA)
Maya Weigel earned her first US Olympic Trials qualifying berth with a 32:14 clocking in the 10,000m. Chris Olley nearly set a new lifetime best with a 13:42 5000m, while Josh Sealand broke through for a 14:10 and 13 second PR.
Thanksgiving week
We had a ton of athletes run virtual Turkey Trots in support of a variety of causes nationwide, including our local Silicon Valley Turkey Trot and the AJC Peachtree Road Race, where Stephanie Pancoast earned top three among females in a deep field.

Schweizer Staffel-Meisterschaften /Swiss Relay Championships (Zug, Switzerland)
Benedikt Bünz took 5th with his collegiate club in this Relay Americaine (3x5x200m).

Boston Marathon (Virtual)
Melinda DiNapoli and Dena Evans both competed, their third and fourth Boston respectively.

Wharf to Wharf (Virtual)
Maya Weigel earned the overall victory in this venerable northern California race. Marissa Ferrante, Amy Schnittger, Caitlin Chrisman, and Victoria O’Neil were all among the top 15, with Melinda DiNapoli and Dena Evans also snagging top 100 sweatshirts. Brian Hicks took 13th place on the men’s side as well.

British Milers’ Club Virtual 3K Time Trial
Chris Olley took third out of over 1000 entrants, with yet another podium performance.

Rose City Virtual Mile
Josh Sealand led a PDC-ish squad to a team and individual victory. Steven Grolle also contributed with a mile of his tempo run.

Training Group Virtual 3K Champs
Several strong performances, with Chris Olley, Matt Leach, Trevor Halsted, Steven Grolle, and Josh Sealand all among the top 10 men, and Maya Weigel the top female. Our four person men’s team (Olley, Leach, Halsted, Grolle) took first, and our women’s team (Weigel, O’Neil, DiNapoli, Evans) were second. Our age graded squads were first and third.

Melinda DiNapoli was second overall in this longtime Los Gatos event.

British National Road Relay Championships (Virtual)
Chris Olley was 15th, while Matt Leach was 25th overall, while running individually on a non-track course.

John Frank Memorial NorCal 10 Miler / PAUSATF Grand Prix (Redding, CA)
Olivia Mickle and Trevor Halsted both took home the individual titles at the PAUSATF 10 Mile Championships.
Cal Opener (Berkeley, CA)
Zach Swenson earned 2nd place in the 1500 and 7th in the 800 in the official outdoor home opener for the Bears.

Newport Mesa Spirit Run (Newport Beach, CA)
Josh Sealand (4:02) and Carmen Mejia (new PR of 4:47) both finished in close second places, while Steven Grolle earned third in the mile and won the 5K.
Kaiser Permanente Napa Valley Marathon (Napa, CA)
Ben Mears returns to competition for the team with a third place 68 minute performance, followed by a team debut of 70 minutes for Ben Rigby in 7th. Victoria O’Neil also finished seventh on the women’s side, with both she and Rigby winning their age groups.
Playa Hermosa PATCO Sprint Triathlon Panamerican Cup and Central American & Caribbean Championships (Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica)
Marissa Ferrante just missed her second straight win, finishing a close second in this sprint distance event.
Santa Cruz Half Marathon (Santa Cruz, CA)
Melinda DiNapoli earned 4th place and 50+ win with a strong 1:29 clocking.
Stanford Treeathlon (Redwood City, CA)
Kevin Bishop won the Elite (draft legal) division of the sprint distance event, with Andrew Roos second. Benedikt Bünz took first place among his age in the age group division.

United States Olympic Marathon Team Trials (Atlanta, GA)
All six PDC athletes finished well above their seeds in large fields on a very difficult course. Mara Olson was 47th with a three minute PR (2:40), followed by Amy Schnittger in 99th, Matt Lenehan in 120th, Caitlin Chrisman in 128th, Jeannette Mathieu in 183rd and Stephanie Pancoast in 222nd.

Habana PATCO Triathlon Panamerican Cup (Havana, Cuba)
Marissa Ferrante perfectly timed a sprint finish to earn the victory in this Olympic distance event.
NYCRUNS Central Park Half Marathon (New York, NY)
Jake Shoemaker won with a nearly 2 minute course record.
Alex Wilson Invitational (South Bend, IN)
Zach Swenson competed in the 3000m, but did not finish.

Brendon Fish finished 5th in his 800m heat in his first senior US championship.

Kaiser Permanente Half Marathon (San Francisco, CA)
Maya Weigel led all team finishers with a runner-up debut in 1:14:38. Mara Olson and Amy Schnittger were also among top finishers in training related efforts with Jeannette Mathieu getting in another tune up for Atlanta as well. Trevor Halsted led the men in 5th, with Matt Lenehan also top 10. Victoria O’Neil had a competitive top 5 result in the 10K event.
408K (San Jose, CA)
Melinda DiNapoli earned overall second place honors while winning the 40+ and 50+ divisions. Donald Taggart took home the age group prize while finishing 14th.

UW Invitational (Seattle, WA)
Chris Olley improved his lifetime best to 7:56 in the 3000m, finishing fifth. Brendon Fish set an indoor club best for 800m at 1:51.26, also in fifth. Tasia Potasinski finished a very narrow second place in her mile heat, before setting an indoor PR in the 800m, as did Benedikt Bünz. Josh Sealand set a PR in the 3000m, followed by Steven Grolle and Zach Swenson.

Jake Shoemaker won the 5000m, setting a personal best and new club indoor best in the process.
Claremont / Mudd / Scripps Alumni Meet (Claremont, CA)
Carmen Mejia set a personal best in the mile at 4:56, winning that as well as the 3200m.

Andrew. Roos, Marissa Ferrante, and Donald Taggart finished top 3 overall at the diabetes support organization fundraiser.

Carmen Mejia and Josh Sealand earned double victories in the local road mile event.
Oakland Track Club Winter Classic (Oakland, CA)
Benedikt Bünz earned the 2 mile track victory in the third annual event.

Chevron Houston Marathon / Aramco Houston Half Marathon (Houston, TX)
Matt Lenehan qualified for the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials with a club record 2:18:09, while Matt Leach set a new personal and club best of 62:57. Matt and his father, Andrew Leach, set a fastest known time for a combination father-son half marathon at 2:14:07, surpassing the previous record of 2:20:33. Brian Hicks also debuted at the distance at 1:11.

USATF Cross Country Championships (San Diego, CA)
Steven Grolle took 17th and Zach Swenson took 37th as third scorer for the US Navy team, earning a trip to the World Military Cross Country Championships.
UW Indoor Preview (Seattle, WA)
Brendon Fish set club records at 1000m and 600m, Chris Olley set a new personal best of 4:01 in the indoor mile before doubling back in the 600, and both Josh Sealand and Tasia Potasinski posted opening results in the mile and 600m.
