Goodman, Schnittger, Tsolis to Compete at USATF Outdoor Championships
Strava TC is sending three athletes to the USATF Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Sacramento State on June 22-25. All three have strong California roots, with exciting opportunities to contest their best events against the nation's finest athletes.
Kaitlin Goodman, who both grew up in Davis and attended UC Davis, comes into the 10,000m seeded ninth, but holding an IAAF World Championship standard and personal best from May of 31:55. Goodman returns as a seasoned veteran who has competed in this event several times at the national level, including in 2016. In Eugene, she finished 11th at the Olympic Trials in the 10,000m, one of only three women to compete in the trials for the 5000m, 10,000m, and marathon.
Amy Schnittger joins Goodman in the 10,000m. The Aptos native and former Chico State All-American in the steeplechase carried over a very successful cross country season where she was the PAUSATF individual champion and our top finisher at Club Nationals, into a track season where she has set huge personal bests over 5000m and 10,000m. This will be her first USATF Outdoor Championships.
Tori Tsolis will also be competing in her first USATF Championship, having improved her 2016 personal best of 4:16 to 4:10 over the course of a year. She enters the meet seeded 12th in the 1500m, and the UCSB grad and San Jose resident will be seeking to make Saturday's final in Thursday's semi-finals.
Schedule: Due to expected warm weather, the meet timetable has adjusted, such that the women's 1500m heats will be held at 9:05pm on Thursday, with the 10,000m final immediately to follow at 9:27pm.
